Develops New Class of Software Technology
Construction
Estimating Institute along with technology partner,
Decisive Systems, Inc., has recently completed development
of a new class of software for construction companies
that own, buy, lease, or rent heavy equipment.
This
software provides a contractor with a way to estimate
exactly what a particular piece of heavy equipment should
rent for on a particular project. Dan Rooks Director
of Management Programs for Construction Estimating Institute
said: "For the first time a contractor doesnt
have to guess what his costs might be or how much diesel
fuel he is going to burn."
Calculating
machine cost is hard for contractors. Anybody can get
a price from a rental yard, but really knowing what
a machine will cost you to do a particular job such
as removing tree stumps or excavating rippable rock,
is difficult. Depending on exactly what work you are
doing with a $150,000.00 machine, your cost might change
by thousands of dollars on a single job!" says
Mr. Rooks.
Constructing
Estimating Institute will not be selling the software.
Mr. Rooks said the Institutes role in developing
the technology was to provide sound principles
of estimating for which the software makes the complex
calculations fast and easy. Worldwide sales will
be handled through Decisive Systems Inc. and major construction
estimating software suppliers.
Based
in Sarasota Florida, Construction Estimating Institute
is a twenty year old, not-for-profit educational organization
dedicated to providing the construction industry continuing
education for management and estimating.
